Multidisciplinary media artist Ali Hossaini merges art, science, and spirituality through photography, video, production, and writing. Early on, Ali became involved in academic writing, the Internet, and television production. Drawing from a foundation in philosophy, he has described his body of work as being “driven by contradiction, paradox and mystery.” Each project is a highly contemplative interactive experience which encourages experimentation with new media and pushes the limitations of current technologies.
Ali Hossaini received his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994. He made his directorial debut at Anthology Film Archives in 2006 with a film entitled Epiphany. Other productions have been featured at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Tribeca Film Festival, the Montreal Festival of Film on Art, PS1/MoMA, Pacific Film Archive, the Beijing Borderline Festival, and the Couvent des Cordeliers, Paris among other international venues.
