The artwork of Swiss-based artist Victoire Cathalan is marked by thick forests and trees; each stroke draws attention to elongating trunks or overflowing foliage. Victoire cites that recently her intentions have been focused on making “every tree bark palpable to the eye”. The images are often familiar, yet evoke a fantastical journey. Arranged in surreal layouts and curious hues, Victoire’s paintings allow the viewer to reflect upon their own memories.

Victoire Cathalan graduated from L’Ecole Nationale des Arts Decoratifs de Strasbourg. Her work has been featured at galleries including La Belotte (Geneva), Galerie Espace G (Strasbourg), Galerie du XVIieme (Paris), La Hype Gallery au Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Galerie La Cantine du Faubourg (Paris), Galerie Varine-Gincourt (Paris) and Galerie Patrick Gutknecht (Geneva).
