About This Work

Bowls is an edition by Paul Manes exclusively on ArtWeLove. In this edition, Manes uses chiaroscuro, meaning a strong contrast between darks and lights, to achieve intense depth and volume in these half-spherical shapes. A longtime motif in Manes's work, bowls stand as a symbol for the connective thread among all people. "Everybody on Earth has a bowl," says Paul, "Everybody on Earth is different; everybody's bowl is different from everybody else's." Watch our short segment studio interview with Paul.
