Space Ship 1 is an original watercolor by Helen Garriott available exclusively on ArtWeLove. It is one from a series which she painted to celebrate the diverse charities that the Garriott family support. Bright colors and high contrast are so that the images could be seen well in broadcasts from space during the art exhibition which Richard Garriott de Cayeux organized aboard the International Space Station. This work depicts the sub-orbital rocket ship that won the X-Prize, for which Richard is a Trustee.
The purchase of this print will go to support the Challenger Center and its mission to create a scientifically literate population.
Helen Garriott is a multi-disciplined artist whose life story naturally led her to explore space art, as the former wife of Skylab / Space Shuttle astronaut Dr. Owen Garriott, and the mother of private astronaut Dr. Richard Garriott de Cayeux.
