More on framing recommendationsAbout This Work
Michel Huelin created Phenotypic Variation especially for ArtWeLove collectors. In biological terms, a phenotype is an individual’s set of observable anatomical, morphological and physiological characteristics. The process, developed by Huelin, generates phenotypic variations that produce the illusion of the fundamental evolutionary principle. The images become compatible with the possibilities opened up by a genetically modified eco-system of the future. These non-organic, computer-generated forms do in fact give an impression of reality, though as Huelin says: "The proliferation is quantifiable. The chaos and disorder are fictive, and are not trying to pretend any different". Enter Huelin’s fascinating universe and discover his motivations behind this work by watching this 3-minute studio visit.
Benefit Edition for 350.org
In honor of Earth Day, ArtWeLove and Michel Huelin have partnered with 350.org in a pledge to donate 20 percent of the proceeds from the sale of both Phenotypic Variation prints to 350.org’s cause.

An artist who also studied biology, Huelin’s digital brushstrokes plunge the viewer into a virtual world of hybrid objects both real and surreal - a sort of vegetation that the artist refers to as ‘phenotypes’.
